Rules & Regulations Senior Masters Tournament
This is an individual scratch match game event open to all certified members of the Flint USBC who bowled 21 games or more in the Flint USBC Association the previous season or Flint USBC members with 21 games or more in the current season in any given league in the Flint USBC as of the first day of qualifying and who are at least 55 years old as of November 7, 2009. Members of another association can become members and bowl by paying local association dues and meeting eligibility requirements set forth above. If a bowler resides within the boundaries of the Flint USBC and is not bowling any league this season, they may purchase an affiliate card for $19 and be eligible to bowl in the tournament provided they meet eligibility requirements set forth above.
The tournament is limited to the first 160 bowlers with 32 bowlers qualifying for head to head matches.
In qualifying rounds, bowlers will draw lanes on Saturday and will bowl six games across 12 lanes, moving after each game.
If there is a breakdown and an unreasonable delay results, the tournament manager can authorize reasonable practice, and or reassign bowlers.
In the case of a tie for 32nd place or alternate position, one additional game will be bowled by those tied. The bowlers will draw for starting lanes and the bowler with the odd lane will start match. If a tie exists after the one game roll-off a 9th and 10th frame will be conducted. Bowlers will begin match on the lane which they finished the previous game. As in all other game the bowler on odd lane will start.
Failure of any contestant to be available in case of a tie will constitute a forfeit. In the event of a tie for any other position, the player with the higher game in qualifying will be placed in the higher position. Should a tie still exist, then next highest game will be used and continue until higher seed is determined. First alternate MUST be present at the start of head to head matches to be eligible to receive their prize.
If a bowler is unable to appear for the first round of match play, which will be Sunday November 8, an alternate will be given the opportunity to replace that bowler in the schedule. Such alternate or alternates will be the next highest participant from the qualifying round.
After the first round No replacements will be permitted.
Non-appearance, regardless of cause, will constitute forfeiture of the match and the player present will bowl their game without opposition to advance to succeeding round. If the forfeiture occurs in the WINNERS bracket, the absent bowler automatically goes into proper position in LOSERS bracket.
Bowlers must lose two matches to be eliminated from the tournament.
Each match will be two games with total pins determining the winner. Pairings for the initial round of 16 matches will be based on qualifying scores with 1 vs. 32, 2 vs. 31 etc .Pairings will continue in bracket system which will be on display at tournament counter.
In match play only one player is assigned to a lane. The order of bowling will be according to match game procedure with person on odd lane starting each game. Bowlers start game on lane assigned and 2nd game will start on lane player finished on in game 1.
If a match ends in a tie a 9th and 10th frame will be conducted. Bowlers will begin roll-off on lane where they finished previous game. Bowler on odd lane begins.
Dress code will be enforced by the Senior Masters committee. NO JEANS, HATS, OR SHORTS ALLOWED.
Tournament management will correct all obvious errors, including math errors, in accordance with USBC Rule 327b.
The top 8 bowlers age 65 and over which fall below 32nd place will be eligible to come back for a one game elimination tournament on the Sunday of match play. One game matches will continue until winner is determined. A prize list will be posted based on number of entries and posted prior to competition.
NOTE. Bowling balls of qualifiers must be checked upon request from tournament officials. All balls used in competition must be recorded on the bowlers score sheet for all competitors. Any bowler having a ball not in compliance with USBC specifications will be disqualified.
