On the lanes… As I stated in the Illusion ball review, I was again very excited to test one of the newest releases from the Roto Grip line. And after just one shot with the ball I have to say that the "Cell" is pure hook and power. The surface on the Cell is a very strong reactive cover. The Cell needs oil! Once I moved inside far enough to catch the puddle, this ball was an amazing combination of hook and strong continuation to the pocket. The Cell is by far the strongest piece of equipment I have thrown to date. The Cell gave me every bit of what I expected including control without losing the power of the ball in its ability to get out the corners. Pins seem alive when this ball hits the pocket. Even for this bowler, I felt like a power player for a day.
In conclusion… The Cell is a great compliment to the Illusion. With this two ball combination you can combat a variety of lane conditions. The Cell is too strong for those lighter volumes of oil, but if you bowl on a heavier house pattern or even a PBA Experience league this ball will be a great piece in your bag. I believe that this ball will be a great asset in the hands of the strokers or tweeners who may have trouble on heavier oil conditions. The crankers may have to adjust the surface a bit for less hook, but all in all, the Cell is a keeper in my book.
