On your shelf or counter… When you first look at the TX1, you may think it’s a plastic ball. For the first time ever a manufacturer has included their ball logos in their molding processes. There are no etched marks in the ball. This was truly a cool new way to create a cover stock that stands out.
On the lanes… I did some research on this bowling ball and the absorption rate was not as high as some of
the other bowling balls in today’s market, so I figured it would be a weak cover stock. This bowling ball
definitely gets through the heads with ease, but it has a great motion in the back part of the lane. It’s not
flippy and erratic. The new TX1 has very predictable ball reaction. I tried to move into the oil to see how far
this will let me play, but there was a bit of hang when I got into the soup. Breaking the cover down to 2000
made a better reaction in that deep.
Fellow employee and PBA member Charlie Tapp had this to say about the new TX1: “It worked great on the fresh until there was some carry down. It was leaving weak and ringing tens, I'm sure it wasn't me, I AM A PROFESSIONAL! I moved right in the third game. The ball was still clean through the front even though the heads broke down a little and the carry came back like in the first game. I used it box finish, pin by the ring finger - 60 x 3 1/2 x 40. So far I give it TWO arthritic thumbs up!”
In conclusion… I believe bowlers of all styles will really like the performance in the new TX1. It may not be enough bowling ball for the heavier oil patterns without an adjustment to the cover, but it will be a great benchmark ball in your bag. Crankers will like this bowling ball because of the ease it has getting down the lane and the predictable back end reaction. I think for the majority of bowlers, this ball will be great on a typical house shot or flatter patterns. I can’t wait to try the next Motiv bowling ball. Two not so arthritic thumbs up!!!
