The first day of competition was fun and challenging. Our team got together to have an early dinner before last night's team event. We had a great dinner at Fuzio in the Sands Casino, and just before we headed to the National Bowling Stadium, we got together to have a quick team meeting. We ran over what we are here to do and what the game plan is. We discussed communicate and staying focused at the task at hand. We got through our March out to the lanes, which still stirs up a little butterflies in my stomach every time I do that. We got to our lanes, got set up and waited for the practice to start. The first game was a little rough for my teammates. We had too many open frames and splits and ended up with an 895. I had one open in the first game with a 178.
The second game was getting a little tougher for the guys on the pair. I feel like the group did not break down the lanes the correctly in team event. Don’t get me wrong, we all tried to make great shots but sometimes that can mess you up for the later games. I ended up with a 190 in the second game with a Split in the first frame, and filed frames the rest of the game. The last game got a little ugly. I ended up having two splits in the 5th and 7th frame and left a ten pin in the tenth frame and missed it. It was the only missed spare I had for the event. I ended up shooting 165 for a 533. I have a lot of pins to make up tonight during doubles and singles at 11:30. It’s a new day and you have to go in with a new clear mind. I will write about the doubles and singles event and have it posted by Tuesday afternoon. It’s gonna be a late night tonight.
